A fresh concept, a great idea
Who knew that an ordinary day in the life of a Colombian fitness instructor named Alberto "Beto" Perez would be remembered as the day that Zumba was created? Beto didn't seem to recall putting his traditional aerobics music going into his class, thus, he created something upbeat from his very own backpack. He didn't expect that his class would like and enjoy what he just did out of resourcefulness. In that very moment, Perez didn't know that he was actually creating a fitness program that would change the world's perspective on getting fit and being healthy. Call it a blessing in disguise, but that accidental forgetfulness actually paved the way to a more "funtabulous" way of getting fit. One of his students' reactions probably was that it was indeed fabulous and full of fun!
Zumba Fitness: Making it big
It was in 2001 when three people decided to make the "happy accident" into a full-pledged fitness program. Perez met entrepreneurs Alberto Perlman and Alberto Aghion in Miami, Florida. The three Albertos visualized to spread Zumba to the masses. They decided to call their growing business as "Zumba Fitness." Four years after, the first-ever Zumba school, or call it an academy, was founded to hone Zumba instructors who would be licensed to conduct Zumba classes. And as they say, the rest is history. It just spread like fire in the bushes. Thereafter, Zumba Fitness became available in three big game consoles, namely, PS3, Xbox and Wii in 2010. Thus, even at home and alone, you can enjoy Zumba Fitness. It was simply a big success!
The Vision of Zumba Fitness
The makers of Zumba envisioned Zumba Fitness to spread as a philosophy of health and happiness to everyone in the world. An empty room could instantly turn into an exhilarating fitness party as long as there is an upbeat music, a Zumba fitness instructor to lead the steps and of course, the Zumba enthusiasts.

The Parent and Child Center at Bristol Hospital
The Parent and Child Center is offering a fun, dance-based workout for families with children ages four to 18. Parentsand children are welcome at the center's Family Zumba fitness classes. The 4-week class will run on Wednesdays from March 5 to March 26. Class will be held in Bristol Hospital's Hughes Auditorium, Level A, Brewster Road, Bristol from 5:15 to 6 p.m.

ALRESFORD is to host a special hour of zumba dancing all in a bid to raise cash for Comic Relief.
Organiser, Sue Russell, will lead a fun-packed hour of zumba routines to raise as much money as possible for Red Nose Day, at the Alresford Community Centre on March 14 from 7pm.
It is free to enter and all donations go direct to the charity. All that is required is a bottle of water and a bit of coordination.
